Our History

Our journey began in 2010 with the opening of Djäkne Kaffebar, a place where coffee was always the main focus. From day one, we introduced the concept of Coffee of the Week—a rotating selection that allowed our customers to explore new and exciting coffees each week. This idea stemmed from our passion for showcasing the diversity of coffee and creating a deeper experience for those who, like us, love to discover unique flavors.

When selecting our Coffee of the Week, we saw great value in prioritizing roasteries from our surrounding areas and those not too far away. This approach allowed us to support local and regional roasters while staying connected to our community. At that time, the concept of "Nordic style roasting" hadn’t yet taken shape as it’s known today. However, as we progressed, we noticed a movement emerging—focused on lighter roasts that highlight the natural flavors of the beans. This roasting style evolved in parallel with our own journey, and we became a part of this broader shift, embracing its principles as they aligned with our philosophy.

Djäkne Kaffebar was owned and run by a startup studio, which encouraged innovation and creativity. This setting pushed us to constantly evaluate what we did, always striving to refine both the coffee we served and the experience we created. It was in this process that we fully realized the importance of focusing exclusively on coffee. In the early days, we offered typical café fare, including fika—the Swedish tradition of enjoying coffee with pastries or snacks. But as we grew, it became clear that our passion lay in elevating coffee itself. From then on, we decided to serve only coffee, creating a space where it could be truly appreciated.

In 2022, after years of honing our craft and deepening our connection to Nordic coffee culture, we decided to rebrand as Nordic Style Coffee. The new name better reflected our focus on the Nordic roasting tradition and the coffee scene we had grown to love. It was also a natural evolution for us, as we came from a background in building digital services, and we knew there was a way to combine our expertise in coffee with our passion for technology. As part of this combination, we began developing an app—a digital coffee journal where users can log and track their coffee experiences. The app will allow coffee lovers to explore their personal preferences and gain insights into their coffee consumption.

In 2024, we launched our coffee subscription service, allowing coffee lovers to experience Nordic-style roasting from the comfort of their own homes. Each week, we curate a selection of coffees that reflect the best of Nordic craftsmanship, continuing our tradition of exploration and discovery.

So, even though we have been into coffee for 14 years we believe the journey has just begun.
